Ingredients

For the Tuna Steak:
-
1 tuna steak
-
Seasoning (to coat the steak):
-
Garlic powder
-
Garlic salt
-
Black pepper
-
Paprika
-
Sesame seeds
For the Sauce:
-
1 teaspoon soy sauce
-
1 teaspoon (or less) sesame oil
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
Directions
-
Prep the tuna:
After defrosting your tuna steak, pat the tuna steak completely dry. I like to get a brush and smear the sauce all of the steak and then coat the whole steak in the seaonings. After seasoned generously let the steak sit at room tempterature for around 5-10 minutes(you could also skip this step and just chuck it into your pan). -
Sear the steak:
Heat a skillet (preferably cast iron) over medium-high heat until hot. Add a tiny splash of oil if needed. -
Cook:
Place the tuna steak in the pan and sear for: -
1–2 minutes per side for rare (bright pink center)
-
3 minutes per side for medium
-
4 minutes per side for well-done (though tuna is best when not overcooked)
-
Serve:
Graze with sesame seeds, slice and enjoy with steamed veggies, rice, couscous, or a fresh salad.
