Tuna Steak

This juicy, pan-seared tuna steak is seasoned simply with garlic, herbs, and lemon for a fresh, savory flavor that lets the quality of the fish shine. Perfect with roasted veggies, rice, or a light salad.!

Ingredients

For the Tuna Steak:
  • 1 tuna steak

  • Seasoning (to coat the steak):

  • Garlic powder

  • Garlic salt

  • Black pepper

  • Paprika

  • Sesame seeds

For the Sauce:
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon (or less) sesame oil

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions
  1. Prep the tuna:
After defrosting your tuna steak, pat the tuna steak completely dry. I like to get a brush and smear the sauce all of the steak and then coat the whole steak in the seaonings. After seasoned generously let the steak sit at room tempterature for around 5-10 minutes(you could also skip this step and just chuck it into your pan).

  2. Sear the steak:
Heat a skillet (preferably cast iron) over medium-high heat until hot. Add a tiny splash of oil if needed.

  3. Cook:
Place the tuna steak in the pan and sear for:

  4. 1–2 minutes per side for rare (bright pink center)

  5. 3 minutes per side for medium

  6. 4 minutes per side for well-done (though tuna is best when not overcooked)

  7. Serve:
Graze with sesame seeds, slice and enjoy with steamed veggies, rice, couscous, or a fresh salad.
